Globalization has increasingly emphasized the importance of local and context-specific factors for firm operations. The institutional environment in the home country shapes how companies compete at home and what competitive resources they can use to develop international strategies. Thus, characteristics of the local economy and/or the home institutions are key to determine how firms behave at home and abroad. In this track we explore the interactions of those characteristics of the local economy and institutions and firm strategy, especially for internationalization. However, we also explore themes on inward and outward FDI, home country advantages, institutions, access to resources, leveraging political and economic resources at home for international strategies.
Keywords: Institutions, local economy, home country advantages, home country government, national champions.
